What's it all mean?
We are thrilled to introduce our very first offering from Rwanda! Our roasters applied a bold flame to this light roast, resulting in prominent notes of cherry, followed by more savory undertones for a coffee with big body. In each cup, you'll find something exotically familiar, revealing new discoveries with every sip. The meticulous care taken in cultivating these beans is evident in every cup.
Behind the bean:
This special lot comes from the Women Coffee Extension (WCE) at the Mbizi Coffee Washing Station, known as Kawa Yacu, meaning "our coffee." Founded in 2017 by Aline Christine and Odette Uwamariya, WCE is a cooperative that empowers female specialty coffee producers in Rwanda, boasting over 700 members today.
WCE emphasizes education and empowerment, providing services such as family planning, nutrition programs, and agricultural training, which have significantly improved the lives of many members.
