John here, something a little different this time. Veteran Bagel chef and former Ready Set employee Cameron Mays has so graciously written today’s blog. Cam, aside from being an excellent purveyor of Bagels and Biscuits, also is an expert on all things Cleveland. If you’d like to read more of his work, whether it be his adventures in New York or his time here in Cleveland, be sure to sign up for his mailing list here.
Cleveland has no shortage of fun things to do on a first date. That is exactly the problem. There is too much to do. It’s like buying deodorant. With so many options, it gets overwhelming and you wind up picking the same thing over and over again. Fear not! From a cozy cafe hang to a world class museum date, this short list will give you guidance in finding a fun date.
- Coffee date at Ready Set! Coffee
Since 2021, Ready Set! Coffee has been roasting beans and brewing up at their Gordon Square home. The great coffee and casual atmosphere is a recipe for an awesome first date!
- Matcha date at Ready Set! Coffee
Coffee and espresso-based beverages aren’t the only drinks they serve at Ready Set! Coffee. Enjoy a matcha latte, too! Drink it on the roastery side. This is a great way to showcase your funny bone. Your date will probably say, “What a humorous juxtaposition! Drinking matcha TEA where they are roasting COFFEE. You are rather inventive in your date planning!”
- Bagel date at Ready Set! Coffee
Oh yeah, they also have food at Ready Set! Coffee! Maybe for this first date, you get a bagel or something? There’s seating in the back, right by the kitchen. Cuts down on the time you spend waiting and gives you more time to get to know your date. Easy icebreaker question: “Did you get an everything bagel?”, wait for answer, “nice, yeah, me too.”
- Beach date at Edgewater Park
Well, Edgewater is a nice and all, but you really need something to do. There’s only so much water and sand and views of downtown one can really stomach, you know? Probably should get something to eat or drink. Don’t bother with that snack bar. Those prices are ridiculous. A first date shouldn’t break the bank. Maybe pick up some to-go lattes at the closest Coffee shop…
- Museum date at Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame
See? Not every great first date in Cleveland has to be in close proximity to Ready Set! Coffee. Some are downtown. Great first date for music lovers, but also coffee lovers! Did you know there is a cafe at the Rock Hall? Heard the coffee is roasted locally in Cleveland, too!
